Greetings,
Greetings,
I am the current sitting president of the Propnuts R/C Club.
One might wonder why anyone would want to do this job.
Well, they promised me a company car and executive washroom privileges.
I later found out that the company car is really the 3rd lawnmower that has no air conditioning and
the executive washroom is the port a can when it's not on its side or burned up. I guess I'm stuck now.
All kidding aside, I'm in a position right now where I can give back to the club and hobby.
This is possible because I have a very supportive wife who does all my home chores and shopping so I can participate.
Guess who's looking over my shoulder? Since we have a lot of new members,
I'll give you a very brief resume of who I am.
I have been building models airplanes, rockets, rocks on a string, and horned toads on a string (Sorry PETA), since
I was 6 years old. If I had any inclination that an object was able to fly through the air, I was on it.
My baby brother was off limits though. Somewhere in the teen years my hormones kicked in and all of a sudden
my priorities where changed. Next thing you know I'm married with two kids. Somewhere in the middle of all this
I was able to get back in the sport and have actively been flying (non-toaded planes) for 30 + years.
My main interest right now is larger scale aerobatic planes that I use in Imac competition. I have been doing this
for 4 years. A helicopter and foamies make up the rest of my fleet. After one of our fun fly's several years ago,
the local community newspaper covered the event and reported that Allan Smith of Crosby Texas was an international
competitor who flew against pilots from all over world. The paper reported it, so it must be true. That's my story
and I'm sticking to it. We now have a World Class pilot as the president of Propnuts.
The rest of our club is a well diversified group of many members who fly just about everything there is to fly.
We have pilots ranging from young kids to old timers with 3 digit AMA numbers.
There is a lot of experience in our club that all can benefit from.
Please take the time to browse all the website. Feel free to contact any of the board members
listed for any additional information.
If you want to come and visit, click on the map link to get directions and come see us.
We'll be more than happy to get you started or help you with whatever you need.
Building and flying your model all while being in complete
control of it's every action is a rewarding feeling that you can only know by doing it.
Now let's go have some fun. I think that is why I started this hobby.
Thanks,
Allan Smith |
